Well, the house front is going well. If the bank thinks we are worthy (which is looking exceptionally likely), we will be closing on our house two days before Cassandra has marked another year on this rock.

It has been stressful to say the least. I am glad that I have been on vacation for the brunt of this whole process. Having to deal with banks and real estate agents and sellers and such would have been a royal pain in the ass if I had to go to work.

So, a description of the house? Sure! Right after the break!

It is a 1600 square foot house on five acres of hillside in Snohomish. Yeah, Bart is going to have another “interesting” city name in his address. Lucky for me, it is going to have easy to remember numbers at least. The home is on the east side of the hill, and has a fantastic view of the Snohomish valley. When I say fantastic, you should read that as “awe inspiring.” The sun rises are poetically beautiful.

The house we are buying is interesting in the fact that it is the first one I was excited about. I couldn’t tell you exactly why until my mother saw the listing and pictures. She said “yeah, I can see why he would like it. It looks like home.” She managed to hit the nail on the head there. It looks like a house my parents would buy or build for themselves. If mother didn’t have kids to house when she devised the plans for their current house, I am almost positive that she would have designed one very similar to the one we are buying.

None of the other houses we looked at prior to this one really felt right. We looked at about two dozen houses too. After we left each one we always had things that we would have to “fix” about the actual house its self. Sometimes it was “well we would have to do something about that bathroom first,” or “it needs a garage,” or something like that. The house we are buying does have things we would like to do with it, but it is stuff that would make it more “us,” not stuff that would make it “living worthy.”

So now we wait. The stress isn’t exactly over. We still need to hear back from the VA loan underwriter. Our banker has told us that it is looking just shy of a done deal. Then more waiting until we actually move into the house.

Great googlie mooglie this has been a stressful vacation. When do I get to use a vacation to have a vacation?
